There is particular risk especially If there is a requirement to open any accounts or use your own bank account to receive payment. These companies begin to pay very modest sums to your account on a monthly basis then you will receive an over-inflated amount, usually a few thousand pounds/dollars. The company will then contact you to advise they have made a mistake and request you return the monies. 9 times out of ten this will be to a different-named company and before you know it you are effectively involved in money laundering.

This is a frequently used scam in the UK (i'm sure in the US as well) to which the authorities do not take lightly.

A bit scary but have you ever heard of a company that has to rely on third parties to work on their behalf when it would probably be cheaper to employ someone part time.

Of course I could be wrong – just be aware. As they say there's no such thing as a free dinner.
